Health and Safety
A Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card proves that you are suitably certified to work on-site in a construction setting and have the necessary training. Employers all around the UK are making CSCS services necessary for working on a building site even if they are not mandated by law. CSCS cards are routinely checked on construction sites to ensure they are still valid by either a handheld scanner or a central database. A worker must, however, have the appropriate CSCS card because if it does not match their current credentials, they will be denied entrance to the site.
The types of CSCS cards offered by Construction Skills Certification Scheme are:
A CSCS card only costs £36 which includes VAT, so it's not that expensive. One of the factors that could increase the cost of getting your CSCS card is the pre-requirements that you need to fulfil before applying for a CSCS card.
You need to complete and pay for the qualification that you need before applying for the card. Our CSCS Green Labourer Card package includes a Level 1 Health and Safety in a construction environment course, certificate of completion, a CITB test, and a Green CSCS Labourer card. This is a popular entry-level option for anyone wishing to work in the construction industry.
The cost of the Health, Safety and Environment Test is another expense to consider when applying. You must pass a CITB Health, Safety, and Environment test within two years before applying for a CSCS card. Your trade and the training you already have determines the type of CITB test you require. Anyone applying for a card must complete this. This test will only cost you £22 in addition to the mentioned £36.
Every CSCS card has an expiration date. You can find this date on the face of the card. This expiration date can range from 5 to 3 years, and in certain cases, only 1 year, depending on your card type. You must remember when your card expires.
The time frame for renewing a CSCS card is six months before and six months after the expiration date has passed. If a CSCS card application is submitted before this deadline, the previous expiration date is used to determine the new expiry.
You must demonstrate that you have the necessary training and qualifications to perform your work in order to renew a CSCS card. Additionally, you must succeed on the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment test. The examination fee is £22.50.
Replacing your CSCS card is simple, even though you will have to pay an additional £36 for the new card. If you require a new CSCS card, place an order by calling the CSCS Contact Centre at 0344 994 4777. Make sure you have one available before you call since they will ask for your CSCS registration number or National Insurance number. The card you receive will be identical to the one you previously had, down to the expiration date.
